Osaka Hidden Experience: Shichifukujin Goshuin Pilgrimage (Collect Sacred Stamps Across the City)

Over view

If you’re looking for a unique cultural experience in Osaka beyond typical sightseeing,
the Shichifukujin pilgrimage offers a meaningful journey through temples, shrines, and local traditions.

Collecting Goshuin (sacred stamps) while visiting each location is not only a beautiful souvenir,
but also a spiritual and cultural experience deeply rooted in Japan.

What is a Goshuin?

A Goshuin is a handwritten seal given at temples and shrines in Japan.

It is not just a stamp—
it represents proof of your visit and a sign of respect.

Each Goshuin is carefully written by hand using brush calligraphy,
making every piece unique.

What is the Shichifukujin Pilgrimage?

The Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods) pilgrimage is a traditional route where you visit seven different temples and shrines, each dedicated to a deity of fortune.
It is believed to bring:
・Good luck
・Happiness
・Success
・Prosperity
This cultural experience combines walking, sightseeing, and spiritual reflection.

Tips : Temples and Shrines in Japan

In Japan, temples and shrines are not just tourist attractions.
They are important places for:
・Prayer and reflection
・Cultural traditions
・Local community life
Visitors are welcome, but respectful behavior is expected.

Osaka Shichifukujin Route & Cost

You will visit seven different locations across Osaka,
each representing one of the Seven Lucky Gods.

The route takes you through both well-known and hidden local areas,
giving you a deeper look into everyday Japanese life.

Cost
・Special Shichifukujin pilgrimage board (1,500yen)
・Goshuin stamps (500yen each × 7 temples/shrines)
・Fees for rental bicycles or taxi transfers (if chosen)

Taxi fee if you take taxi (when you got tired walking, we can take a taxi to the next stop)

Important: Order Matters
In this pilgrimage, the order is very important.
If you visit in the wrong order,
some temples may refuse to stamp your Goshuin board correctly,
and you may not be able to complete the set.
This is a traditional practice,
so it’s important to follow the proper route.

Important etiquette

Photography is often not allowed while receiving a Goshuin
Always ask for permission before taking photos
Please be quiet and respectful inside temples and shrines
Some locations may have limited English support

Make your experience smooth and meaningful

Because the route is not widely known and many locations are not tourist-oriented,
it can be difficult to:
・Plan the correct order
・Navigate efficiently between locations
・Understand local rules and etiquette

Because many of these places are hidden and less touristy,
you may experience:
・Difficulty communicating in English
・Confusion about proper etiquette
・Uncertainty about the correct route

With a private guide,
you don’t need to worry about making mistakes. You can simply enjoy the experience while we take care of the route, timing, and communication.

This is not just sightseeing—
it’s a cultural journey you will remember long after your trip.
