For more than 500 years, this small town has been home to the artisans who produce the finest tea whisks used in Japanese tea ceremonies throughout the country.
Although guests will experience only the final three stages of the crafting process, this is a rare opportunity to step inside a working artisan's workshop. Watch a master craftsman demonstrate the remarkable skill and precision required to transform a single piece of bamboo into a delicate tea whisk, while learning about the techniques that have been passed down through generations.
The experience goes beyond craftsmanship. Having already taken part in a traditional tea ceremony in Kyoto, you'll now discover the deeper philosophy behind the tools themselves.
